Should I wait until construction near me finishes?
If they are actively pouring or framing next door, yes, wait. Correction is not a coating, it does not protect anything, and putting fresh dust on freshly polished paint just restarts the problem. If the dust is occasional rather than daily, no reason to wait.
What should I do about the dust in the meantime?
Rinse, do not wipe. Water alone carries most of it off. Every dry pass over gritty dust is a fresh set of scratches, and that is the single most common thing I end up correcting out here.
